Dosing Strategies – humans
1. Headaches / Migraines
Ways To Use Oils & Tinctures
-Swish in the mouth for immediate relief
-Swallow for longer-term relief
-Rub them on temples, neck or shoulders to soothe muscles
Recommended product: CBD Capsules
2. Stress / Anxiety
Prevent it before it happens with CBD capsules or infusions
If patients know they’re going to encounter a stressful situation (salary negotiation, a difficult conversation, giving a speech), take a dose of CBD 1 to 2 hours prior. They won’t feel anything extra, but they should notice an absence of stress symptoms (dry mouth, nervousness, etc.) Know your triggers and stop them from firing before they stress you out!
Recommended products:
Lion’s Mane Capsules
CBD Capsules
3. Don't let daytime disturb your sleep
Many insomniacs carry the stressful situations they encounter during the day to bed. If patients anticipate stressful situations, they can use CBD during the day to keep them calmer before sleep.
Recommended product: CBD Capsules
4. Nausea
There’s ample evidence that cannabinoids work to quell nausea. Some patients find that CBD alone works; many require a 1:1 (CBD:THC) ratio of cannabinoids.
Recommended product: CBD Capsules
5. Reduce NSAID and Opioid Use
Lower your dose of opioids or NSAIDs by combining them with cannabinoids. Research shows that combining even small amounts of cannabinoids with opioids enhances their pain-relieving qualities and may help you cut your doses. Patients must do this under a doctor’s supervision.
Recommended product: CBD Capsules
6. Practice good sleep hygiene to counter insomnia
Turn off screens, take a hot bath and use relaxing herbs and teas before going to bed. Take an edible two hours prior to bed; the psycho-activity should taper and the ensuing drowsiness should lull you to sleep. Keep an Indica vape pen by your bed stand and take a few inhalations 30 minutes prior to falling asleep. Use it accordingly if you wake up during the night.
Recommended product: CBD Capsules
7. Pimples, rashes, burns, skin irritations
Use a CBD or CBD:THC topical on all of the above skin conditions. The skin is rich in CB2 receptors and the anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties of cannabinoids can jump-start healing and zap certain types of surface irritations.
Recommended Products:
CBD Skin Repair Balm
CBD Natural Moisturising Face Cream
8. Muscle cramps
Use a CBD or CBD:THC topical. We’re not sure how this works, but the skin is rich in CB2 receptors, and cannabinoids appear to soothe cramps and certain types of spasms.
Recommended Product: CBD Skin Repair Balm
9. Pain Relief
Break a capsule open and rub some of that soothing cannabinoid-infused oil on the aching spot. Then swallow the capsule for overall inflammation-fighting and longer-term relief. Also use a topical balm high in cannabinoids, applied every 3 hours can do the trick.
Recommended Products:
CBD Capsules
CBD Skin Repair Balm
10. Full-Spectrum CBD plays well with other herbs!
If patients are herbally oriented, remind them that CBD integrates with other herbs. Valerian, hops, passionflower, and chamomile can be taken as a tincture or tea with CBD to encourage sleep. Teas or tinctures with turmeric, ginger and corydalis taken with CBD can increase its anti-inflammatory actions.
